Abstract: The Darling Point home of bespoke tailor Patrick Johnson and his designer wife, Tamsin Johnson, has gone on the market and it has undergone quite a transformation.

Gone are the dark patterned wallpapers and dated interiors of the historic Kendall Lodge at 15 Eastbourne Rd, which was bought for $10.05 million before Covid 2020 from the Hamblin family, who have owned the 1920s-built house for over 46 years.

Now, TRG founder Gavin Rubinstein has put it on the market with Bill Malouf of Highland Double Bay Malouf, and the impressive images on the realestate.com.au website prove the claim that its designer owners have "impeccably renovated" it.

In an interview, Rubinstein declined to provide a price guide at this stage, but given the current thirst for well-designed properties in the east - and the shortage of them - it is sure to fetch a premium.

There have been a couple of big $24 million deals recently, including the house of property developer Eduard Litver and the three-storey building of tourism veteran Col Hughes.

The Johnsons moved from Tamarama, where they bought a house four years ago for $3.85 million, which was remodelled by Tamsin Johnson Interiors and sold in 2020 for more than $5.5 million through Rubenstein.

It is understood that they are now looking for their next project.

At Darling Point, Tamsin Johnson has retained the charm of the old Darling Point house, improving on the period fittings while adding state-of-the-art interiors.

The residence is set on 892 square metres with breathtaking harbour views of the twin bays and Seven Shillings Beach, four bedrooms, five bathrooms and two parking areas with soaring ornate ceilings.

Both the formal and informal living areas have equal parts timber panelling and bespoke joinery, complemented by Italian marble and traditional tiled floors.

The chef's kitchen is the heart of the residence, with a Calacatta marble stacked island breakfast bar, walk-in pantry and state-of-the-art gas appliances.

Inside there are multiple outdoor entertaining spaces and a swimming pool set in expansive gardens to the north east.

All four bedrooms are substantial, with the master bedroom having a luxurious en-suite and designer dressing room.

The ground floor consists of a spacious lounge area perfect for guest or au pair accommodation, with a lounge and sauna.

Prior to the Johnsons' purchase in 2020, the property was the home of the late Charles Hamblin, a renowned philosopher and computer scientist, and his wife Rita.

They bought it in 1974 for $155,000.
