Abstract: Cbus Property and FJC Studio, the partners behind the 111 Castlereagh project, claim that there is no other property in Sydney's CBD that can rival the allure of David Jones.

This Art Deco-style building, located at the intersection of Castlereagh Street and Market Street, has stood for over 80 years, serving as the home of David Jones' menswear, sports goods, and luggage departments. Now, this expansive land is undergoing a $1 billion development project to construct a 22-story tower comprising 98 apartments.

The store, built in 1938, features heritage design elements with modern additions, including sandstone from Hawksbury covering parts of the building.

Adrian Pozzo, CEO of Cbus Property, stated, "111 Castlereagh will become a unique landmark on Sydney's skyline, while seamlessly integrating into the urban fabric."

Richard Francis-Jones, Design Director of FJC Studio, added, "Our design philosophy is to stand on the shoulders of the original architects and reimagine this building with the same ambition."

In addition to residential units, the project will include 11,500 square meters of office space and a 9,500 square meter expansion of Westfield Sydney's luxury retail offerings.

A creative breakthrough in engineering and design, the curved tower showcases a glimpse of the future while preserving a part of Sydney's iconic retail.

Apartment sizes range from 62 square meters to 463 square meters, each with outdoor spaces ranging from 8 square meters to 176 square meters. The apartments include 11 one-bedroom units (with only one remaining priced at $2.45 million), 52 two-bedroom units (starting from $2.95 million), 29 three-bedroom units (starting from $5.85 million), and 7 four-bedroom penthouses, with only two available for purchase, priced at $12.5 million and $15.1 million respectively.

These residences from the sixth floor and above offer stunning views of Hyde Park, the CBD skyline, the harbor, and the Blue Mountains.

Interior designs offer three style options, including handcrafted stone and bespoke woodwork, alongside complete home automation and unique floor plans.

Residents will also enjoy resort-style amenities such as an outdoor heated swimming pool, gym and yoga deck, a pet-friendly rooftop garden overlooking Hyde Park, exclusive lounge, as well as concierge services offering dry cleaning, pet grooming, and restaurant reservations.

Additional features include a state-of-the-art wine cellar, accessible to a select few residents, and a private dining room and meeting space. Boutiques, parks, the National Library, art galleries, the Opera House, and train stations are all within walking distance.

The building is currently under construction and is expected to be completed by mid-2025.
