Abstract: Tech billionaire Scott Farquhar and his wife, investment banker Kim Jackson, said no to the $115 million price tag when they were offered the Barford at Bellevue Hill. But say yes to Point Piper's Uig Lodge, the largest sale in Sydney in the 2022-23 financial year.

Uig Lodge, built in 1900 in the style of a Scottish baronial castle, cost them $130 million last November without any of the necessary mortgages.

It was bought from Steven and Carol Moss of the Katies fashion empire, whose 1996 purchase set a non-waterfront record of $9.2 million.

Ian and Maggie Joy returned to their Balfour residence, a grand hillside Georgian home, after the Fackers vacated their temporary rental in Balfour.

Having shown their mettle, the Joy's are likely to appear on the sales charts in the new financial year.

After all, Barford did fetch a record $9.875 million in late 1986.

In the financial year just gone, Bellevue Hill recorded the second highest priced sale in Sydney.

In May, the historic Leura was sold to flower wholesaler Leo Lynch for A$70 million.

A third deal saw Alistair Champion, co-founder of the Australian Laser Clinic, and his wife Kate buy the luxury Point Piper home in April for A$69 million.

Rebecca Lacey and her husband Simon Ehrlich, sellers of the 1930s Spanish Mission Wunulla Rd trophy home, are said to be heading to Vaucluse.

The fourth highest sale price was for Lynch's Bellevue Hills home at $61.5 million to freight owner Arthur Tzaneros.

Tzaneros launched the marketing of his surplus Vaucluse home in midweek, hoping to sell it for $50 million to $55 million, which he paid $32 million for in September 2021.

Sydney Football Club owner Scott Barlow and his wife Alina sold their beachfront Akuna to Hoang Trang Do for what could be slightly less than $60 million, the fifth most expensive home sale.

Last April, they sold to big band jazz musician Warren Daly and his wife, fitness writer Karen Peerless, for A$45 million.

There is currently a tug-of-war between Point Piper and Bellevue Hill for the best performing prestige suburb.

Their popularity is growing because of their proximity to schools Scots and Cranbrook.

According to PropTrack, the median home price in Bellevue Hill is $8,047,500, while Point Piper has not had enough sales in the last 12 months to determine its median home price.
